Fall 2007
Effective July 1, 2007 Georgia citizens have a new health care document that
they can use to provide for their healthcare, if they become unable to make decisions for themselves.
The new document is called an Advance Directive for Health Care. This
document effectively combines the Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care and Living Will documents. In the Advance
Directive a person can appoint an agent for health care decisions, declare preferences concerning end of life procedures and
express a choice about who would serve as guardian, if one is needed.
